A Guide to Daggerheart Tools (Character Builders, Campaign Managers & Encounter Trackers)

Daggerheart’s community has grown fast enough that there’s no longer just one place to build a character or run a game — there’s a small ecosystem of digital tools now, each with a different focus. If you’re looking for Daggerheart tools and trying to figure out which one fits your table, here’s an honest rundown.

What “Daggerheart tools” usually means

Most tools in this space cover one or more of the same core jobs:

  • Character building — picking class, subclass, ancestry, community, domain cards, and equipment, then tracking Hope, Stress, HP, and Armor as you play.
  • Campaign management — a GM-facing dashboard for tracking players, notes, countdowns, and session prep across a whole campaign.
  • Encounter prep — building balanced fights with adversaries and environments, usually against the game’s Battle Point budget.
  • Homebrew content — creating custom weapons, armor, classes, and adversaries that plug into the rest of the toolset.

Few tools try to do all four well. That’s worth knowing up front, because it changes which tool is “best” depending on what you actually need.

The current landscape

  • Demiplane Nexus — the official Daggerheart digital toolset, tied into Demiplane’s existing platform. Strong if you already use Demiplane for other systems.
  • HeartSmith — a focused character builder.
  • Minva — a fast, one-click random character creator built on the official SRD.
  • Heart of Daggers — covers encounters, adversaries, environments, homebrew, and adventure writing.
  • FreshCutGrass — an encounter manager focused on fast, balanced encounter building and live HP/Stress tracking at the table.
  • daggerheart.org — community-run reference material and lightweight game aids.

Where DaggerHub fits

DaggerHub tries to cover character building, campaign management, encounter prep, and homebrew content in one place, so you’re not juggling three tabs to run a session. It’s free to use — see the roadmap for what’s shipped and what’s next, or jump straight into the character builder, campaign manager, or encounter builder.

If you’re just getting started with Daggerheart, any of the tools above will get you playing — pick based on whether you want an all-in-one toolset or a single tool that does one job really well.
